Sri Anjaneva Swamy Temple at Nerur Agraharam was built over 200 years ago. It is a granite temple, with a small sanctum sanctorum and a similar size mantapam in front of it. It is located at one end of the agraharam street, surrounded by lush green paddy fields.

Renovation of the neglected temple was initiated one year ago. The narrow path to the temple was widened. Thorny bushes were removed. Cement pathway around the temple and cement floor in front of the temple were laid. A slanting asbestos ceiling was erected in front of the temple. Electric lights around the temple have been installed.

Funds have been raised to buy the 16 cents plot just behind the temple. The thorny bushes have to be removed and a see-through low cost fencing needs to be erected. The temple needs a fullttme priest to perform daily pujas. A nominal salary of Rs.2000 per month plus free living accommodation are required. Materials for daily pooja are needed. Celebration of Sri Hanuman Jayanthi, Sri Rama Navami and other events are to be planned.

Village devotees do make contributions. The temple needs matching grants and generous donations to promote bhakthi among the villagers and the visitors.
